Our bodies were designed to perceive sound in three dimensions.
Our ability to locate sounds depends on the way that sound
waves from the same source differ from each other as they
reach the left and right ear. We depend on special audio cues:
variance in frequencies, intensity of volume, and the time
it takes these sounds to reach our ears. From a mix of all
these cues, we determine the location of each individual sound
and the type of "room" or sound field image we are
in.
DTS® Surround Sensation™ analyzes and processes
the frequencies, volume intensity, and time delay; while taking
into account the distance between your ears, and the distance
of your upper body and torso. The specially processed sound
comes out of the two speakers (or headphones) and voila!—you
experience a surround effect!
